Cycling

Kincardine O’Neil has great routes for cyclists whether they are looking for a relaxing itinerary with the family or to attack a challenging hill trail crossing high mountains and through dense forest. The Deeside way passes through the village on its way from the coast at Aberdeen to the Cairngorms National Park at Ballater giving us an off-road route to many other locations and because it was based on the route of the, now closed, Deeside Railway its relatively flat.

For those looking for thrills and spills our near neighbours in Aboyne (5 miles by off-road path) have a community owned Mountain Bike Park with downhill tracks, a pump track skills area and a jump track – called “The Spitting Cobra”.

From gentle cycling along flat paths and quiet rural lanes to mountains, moorland and forests, we really have something to satisfy all levels of cyclist be they total beginner or dyed-in-the-wool enthusiast.
